It's no secret that The Goldbergs has been bringing endless laughter to our screens for eight seasons now. Wendi McLendon-Covey, who plays Beverly, the controlling and nosy mother, joked about what she'd do if the series were to get canceled anytime soon, and let's just say she wouldn't be too thrilled about it.
"Every time I go into work - even though the hours are long - it's the most fun I could possibly," said McLendon-Covey. "So, I will do this and probably have to be dragged kicking and screaming from the Sony lot on the final day." However, for as long as Beverly keeps making her way into everyone else's business on screen, she has some ideas of what direction her character might go in.
"I would love to be Bev holding a grandbaby," she revealed. "I would also love to get to an era where she starts to wear leather pants because the real Beverly does dress that way in real life. She is alive and out there and dressing like a rock n' roller in her 70s, and she pulls it off."
"Let me say this - I know we can't stay in the 80s forever, which is fine. But we are always going to be vague with the date because that's the device of the show," Wendi continued. The eighth season premiered in October of 2020, and Beverly has been up to her usual behavior, and something tells us she'll never get tired of bothering her children and nagging her husband.
"Listen, I'll do this as long as they want me to because it's the best job I've had doing anything," Wendi said. "I love every single person on our crew, everyone behind the scenes, everyone that's a part of the cast, every guest star we have."
Whether or not The Goldbergs gets renewed for a ninth season, McLendon-Covey hopes for the series to be remembered as an "uplifting" show full of laughs.
